Deep Roots
Since 2022, Valley Verde’s Deep Roots Program has helped interested graduates of the Shared Garden for Individuals Program become advanced gardeners. In 2025, it opened its doors to all gardeners with some gardening experience who want to advance their skills. Individuals and families in Gilroy, Morgan Hill, and San José who stand to benefit the most participate for free!
Do you want to deepen your gardening knowledge and skills?
​The Deep Roots Program provides Shared Garden for Individuals Program graduates with:​

Six (English) group workshops with hands-on experience

Gardening supplies (compost, rainwater catchment system, and seedlings)

Garden visits and individualized mentorship
Application & Program Timeline (six months)
​Program Begins: June
Program Concludes: November
Participants learn gardening-focused self-sufficiency topics, including seed saving, growing seedlings, advanced composting, water conservation, and more.
