Popular Asian vegetable which grows on a climbing vine up to 5m tall. Long green fruit to 30cm long with a waxy warty appearance. Melons are best eaten when young and green; when cooked they have a similar texture to cucumber but with a bitter flavour. Popular in curries or stir-fries. 
Also known as "Balsam Pear" or "Bitter Squash".
