About the Event

**Allergen Alert** -- We have a beehive onsite, so please take necessary precautions and bring any relevant medication with you.

Volunteering with Valley Verde can be very rewarding! Helping out at our garden means gaining gardening skills along with getting the opportunity to meet other passionate community members, connecting with the land, and overall contributing to the local food justice movement! You will also get the chance to meet our team and learn how to get involved in our many programs, like the Shared Garden Program. Some of the things you can expect to do when volunteering are:

  • Sowing seeds
  • Transplanting vegetable seedlings
  • Seed saving
  • Building, planting, and maintaining our  on-site gardens
  • Maintaining our compost operations
  • Creating artwork for our community spaces
  • Taking photos or video at events
  • And more!

No experience is necessary as all instruction will be provided on-site. If you have unique skills you'd like to share, prefer to volunteer remotely, or have any comments, questions, or concerns, please reach out to us at volunteer@valleyverde.org or come by our Homeland Nursery. Thank you so much for your interest!

Note: This event is a morning slot. Please be mindful of the temperature for the day you intend on volunteering as it tends to be cooler in the morning and warmer in the afternoon; in the case of a city-wide heat advisory, we will notify you if volunteering for the day is cancelled. We recommend you bring water, wear closed-toe shoes and a hat, and use sunscreen. Please visit our Volunteer FAQ sheet for more information.
