About the Event
This workshop is free and open to all community members, and no experience is necessary. If you have accessibility needs, do not hesitate to contact us!
Food justice is the right to accessible, healthy foods. In many cities across America, this right is not fulfilled. Many communities are left to struggle to consistently get nutritious, affordable, and culturally preferred food to feed themselves and their families. In this workshop we will discuss what food justice looks like in our own community of San Jose and explore ways to engage in food justice to empower and provide for ourselves! Together we'll learn quick and simple ways to grow and reuse plants in your own home without needing a yard, which can then be used for making food AND art! Food justice can mean nourishment AND fun!
Bring your friends and family to this Sow & Grow Community Day as we learn how to be a part of the food justice movement in our daily lives!
For our activity, we will be making art using plant-based paint for you to take home! All materials will be provided by Valley Verde.
On-site parking is only available for accessibility purposes. Therefore, there is no parking onsite, please park at 365 Royal Ave, San Jose, CA 95126.  It is a big parking lot located in a vacated Orchard Supply Hardware.
