Okra is a warm season annual native to tropical Africa and Asia. It is an annual that typically grows 3-5' tall. It is grown for its edible fruit/seed pods which are perhaps best noted as the signature ingredient in gumbo. Pick fruits at 3-4" long and when they snap from the plant.

  • Plant your okra seedlings 12 inches apart in fertile and well-drained soil.
    Okra plants like direct sunlight, it is recommended to let the soil dry somewhat between watering.
    Harvest: harvest your okra pods every other day once they are about 2 to 3 inches long.
